Walnut Cove Volunteer Fire & Rescue

House Fire 507 Hwy 65 East, Walnut Cove, NC

Walnut Cove, NC – On Monday, October 15, 2012 at 6:32am units from Walnut Cove, Salem Chapel, South Stokes, Belews Creek, Stokes County EMS, Walnut Cove Police Department & Stokes County Sheriff’s Department responded to a reported house fire at the above location.  The first fire apparatus arrived on the scene at 6:39am to find a working fire on the second floor of a two story home.  Initial reports were of a second trapped on the second floor and rescue efforts were initiated but the subject was subsequently located outside the structure.  Additional units from Stokes-Rockingham responded to assist for additional manpower.  30 personnel were on scene to help in the effort. Stokes County Fire Marshal’s is handling the investigation and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The fire was brought under control at 9:06am but the home sustained major fire damage to the second floor with water and smoke damage on the first.  Four residents were displaced from the fire and no injuries were sustained.  The Red Cross is assisting the occupants with any needs.  All units cleared the scene at 11:15am.
